David Rollyn Powell grew up in the country side of WI, spending most of his time running around in the woods being inspired by nature. That inspiration amplified when he moved to Minnesota and spent time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and rock climbing around the parks.
He’s turned that inspiration into simple illustrations — reflecting the simple beauty of nature. Recently, him and his wife have been living in the Oregon, where they surf, climb and fly fish, and spend as much time outdoors as possible. Out west, he’s further developed his appreciation for the connection between nature and art. Currently, David and his wife are preparing to live in a van and travel the US in pursuit of their passions. His motto: KEEP IT SIMPLE.
David Powell drew the cult-classic, our Crown V.C. 60 in its natural habitat.
David Powell was proud to support the Packing It Out Team with this illustration.
The Campaign to Save the BWCA is leading the effort to gain permanent protection for the BWCA from risky proposed sulfide-ore copper mining. We support it.
